My entry for yesterday got messed up, so I'm writing this one in it's place.

Sorry I haven't been able to post in a while, after all, i've been out and about all over these two countries.

Here are a few highlights from that:

We got delayed coming back from our last mission for some random briefings that we'd already done, as well as another round in the HEAT trainer. This one was kinda ghetto though, it was like an OIF2 Humvee with the old locks. Not to mention, the two Specialists running it decided to give us five spins (I was with the last group to go through). My seatbelt broke loose on the second spin, so I was holding the gunner in with one hand, bracing my weight with the other, and trying to keep my M4 from falling out of the turret with my leg. It was not outstanding in the slightest.

Someone drew a wonker across MSR Tampa, and another on one of the bridges along the same route. It served as a good bit of comic relief when this convo came over the vehicle headset:

"I see something on the corner of that bridge."

"It's a w*nker! Someone drew a giant w*nker on the checkpoint ** bridge! That's awesome!"

The rest of the mission went well, and it ended up being a pretty long haul this time. It should also be noted that the beer flag made a successful appearence at every fob that we stopped at. A full bird Colonel saluted this fine patriotic display at MNC-I headquarters in Baghdad.

Once we got back to our home in Kuwait, we discovered that we had to sign our truck over to another team because their ASV's Air Conditioning went out. I like the crew that's taking it out, but it's still annoying when you have to sign your vehicle that you've worked hard on to another crew. Last time we did that someone broke our TC side windshield. I hope they and the truck come back alright.

Oh well, that's just about all I've got for now. I'll be back later for another entry.

There is the concept sketch for my fursuit, enjoy.

I had written a longer entry, but internet exploer decided that it didn't want to post it and would instead delete it. I'll have more later;).

One more day closer

  • Jun. 13th, 2008 at 12:53 AM

Well, today didn't start off on a good note. The PSG informed us that we've got a PT test tomorrow at 2100, which kinda took all motivation out of the rest of the day. I'm not worried about failing it, because I'm fine in that regard, but I'd wish I'd had a bit more notice. Oh well, what else am I going to do?

At least I got to have a relaxing evening tonight. There wasn't much to do today as far as work goes, so we had time for some Call of Duty 4 deathmatch. After that, my quadmates and I watched Jumpers, and I had a chance to finish a segment of RSH that I've had on my mind for the past few days. Now I've just got to do some more research on both satellite communications and military communications, as I'm not to familiar on a subject that is about to play a big role in this second book. I think what I've got right now turned out alright, so we'll have to see what everyone else thinks. I'm glad I decided to add the glossary at the end of each chapter, as this one is pretty terminology-intensive, including some that even I wasn't familiar with. It looks like the readers aren't the only ones that are learning with these next few:).

Now I've got The Patriot on, as I've been in a trend lately to rewatch movies that I haven't seen in quite a while. Yesterday, I watched Black Hawk Down for the first time in maybe a year or so. I haven't yet decided what will be next...

14 days until Anthrocon 2008, and I'm more excited than ever. I've spoken to several people online in the past months, and I can't wait to finally meet some of them in person. Especially you Milfurs:)!

Well, until tomorrow, have a good night!

Sand, spiders, and leave, oh my!

Well, my first entry on the new LJ. WoOt! It's been pretty busy around here as of late, in the process of packing for leave AND completing al of the stuff that I've been meaning to do for the last week or so. It's mainly menial stuff, but still, I don't have any motivation to do it tonight.

I've spent most of my time making my Anthrocon plans, deciding where I'm going to stop and where I'm going to fuel. I have to get a GPS once I get back stateside, but other than that, I've got all my major purchases taken care of over the internet. I got a supersponsor membership this year, and I'm pretty excited about that as well. I'll be taking my Multicam and plate carrier this year as part of my Sergeant Redfield costume, so this Milfur will be easy to spot:).

Don't be afraid to say hi either, I don't bite.

I've been doing a good deal of writing as of late, working on getting another chapter of RSH at least semi-ready to get posted to Yiffstar before I leave for AC. Long Since Passed has another chapter ready for posting, and it's evolved from a random series of writings to a series that I'm going to continue. Keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

Well, that's all I've got for now, enjoy!

Stay safe and be well!
